What is the syntax in the $Find input formula to find the open parenthesis symbol ( ?
When I put in ( it doesn't seem to do anything.
I've now spent hours on this one! Always getting close, just never quite right. (I thought I had it when I tried $CHAR(40)...but alas.)
I finally have it working. Its ugly, I hope there is a better way, but this is what I have.
Make a dummy variable (I called mine parentheses) set it so its default value is (
Put a text control on the card, map it to the parentheses variable, then make it so that it is always hidden.
Now your formula is easy, use the variable name instead of the value. This formula finds the first ( in the "description" variable.
I also tried "(" '(' \\(\\ (( ((( s\( %(% %%(%% and probably 10 more.
Thanks. I was on the same "use multiple variables" trail, but didn't quite get it right ... too many interuptions to ever finish the thought. I finally snapped out of my "I must solve it because it can't be that hard" haze, and switched to a + symbol because I had to leave on Friday. I knew I could change it back when I figured it out. Thank you for your help..
When you make a field always hidden, how do you find it again to delete it or modify it? Probably never necessary in this case, but I've always wondered when I read posts with that as part of the answer.
It's only hidden at runtime. You can always see it when in the card editor.
