I have this ring, that I'm trying to convert into sheet metal, but I'm geeting a "non liniar" message when trying to insert bends
What version of solidworks are you using and can you load your part so we can take a look?
I found that when you try to convert a ring to sheet metal that if you put a tiny flat section in it (showed below) where it is split it usually works.
Hope this helps!!!
when you use "insert bends" with a cylinder you must select "edge" of gap (red arrow).
Don't see any red arrows...
in the screenshot you posted.
It says "non liniar edge invalid" everytime I do that
is it somehow curved?
it doesn't appear to be a smooth ring.
what are the triangle lines for?
My intial cut, was a paralel cut. So I made and 1° degree sketch (like yours) for the cut and that worked - Thanks
I am on 2013 so I can't load a model. Is your part cone shaped or are the top and bottom radii the same? The example out of my sheet metal book. Shows making a arc with a gap and then using an extruded a thin feature. Once this is done, Insert, sheet metal, bends and select the left outside edge as the fixed face. NO other options need to be selected. Notice at the bottom the flat pattern is created. Right click on flat pattern and select unsuppress. Tom
