I've never had this happen until today, but when I try to save files I can't sometimes because SW says their read-only. Does anybody know why this has started happening all of a sudden?
I get this error if I have 2 copies of the same file open. For example, if I’m in an assembly and making changes to the part (3-D sketch), and have an additional copy of the part open on its own.
To correct this, I have to finish my work in the assembly/close out of the sketch tool and save the assembly. This will unlock the copy of the part I’m trying to modify outside of the assembly.
Sometimes I have to close SW, even though it has no files open in order to unlock files, but that's something different.
Just wondering - are you by chance using WPDM or some other doc management system? If so, you may need to take ownership of the file in the vault. In our config of WPDM, that will change it.
I'm not using any file management. I get read-only popups all the time, but today is the first day I couldn't save a file in my working directory because of read-only, and I had been saving all along before that. I wonder if it's not something happening with the network, and not SW.
That is a possibility. Also, you may want to play the settings in this area of "tool / options".
Either way, it seems as though has changed recently.
