I was wondering if Autodesk can run on a Mac why can't you all make Solidworks for the Mac also?
Autodesk doesn't run on a Mac? Where are you getting this information?
Autodesk is a company, not a CAD product.
Maybe you meant AutoCAD Mac version.
Some would argue AutoCAD for Mac is not AutoCAD.
Anyone would argue that AutoCAD (of any flavor) is not SolidWorks.
The Autodesk equivalent of SolidWorks is called Autodesk Inventor.
Autodesk Inventor does not run on Mac OS.
I am pretty sure that some people do run SW on a mac in "emulation" mode.
By the way - welcome to the forum!
I'm sure they could make SW for Mac, but would it be worth the time and resources to do so? I'm guessing the answer is "no", or else they would have done it long ago. It may not even be possible because of the Parasolid kernel, but I'm not a programmer.
are we talking about MAC through bootcamp/parallels/VMWare or natively?
if you want to run solidworks natively on a mac, here's a solution: http://www.hawkridgesys.com/products/nvidia/
