I have opened CATIA step file in Solid works. It was open but i am unable to edit those files.
IS IT POSIBLE TO EDIT THOSE FILES IN SOLIDWORKS ?
Those file will come in as dumb solid/surface files. You can try featureworks but don't take that you'll have 100% parametric model. So you'll have to treat them like a dumb file and add features on that.
Thank you Deepak ,
I am using solidworks premium. I don't have a licence to use Feature works now. Is there any other solutions to edit those files
Look under Tools > Add-ins to enable feature works.
I am getting this error massage
Make sure you've SW professional or premium license running on your machine.
I haveSolidworks standard premium license
There are three different license: Standard-Professional-Premium. Pro and Pre have feature works Std does not.
I have Solidworks standard license .... is there any way to edit that file
Perhaps this doesn't need saying, but you can edit the part by cutting, adding material, and/or moving faces. You can get a lot done this way.
Thank you Dwight...
And that is the final answer! Technically you are editing the part BUT you are editing a dumb block so if you wish to make it longer you have to add features, cut features if another feature needs to be moved up or down etc. Not the ideal situation. If you aren't too constrained for time you and the model isn't too complicated remodeling is a great way to go for the next time there is a modification to the part.
Can you post your part?
