I know there is the camera icon which is 'Insert Image', but I how do I use it? Selecting it produces the window with the obvious instruction Insert Image, and I have tried to the usual RMB, copy/paste and dragging but all without success.
The function seems to work fine for me. I'm using Chrome if that make any difference to you.
I suppose that if you don't know how to insert a screen shot then you cannot show us what you see on screen.
I start with the Prt-Scr key which copies the screen to the clipboard; or Alt-Prt-Scr if the SW window is not filling the screen.
I then open PMviewPro image editor, create a new image, and paste the clipboard.
Mostly I will crop the image to focus attention onto the significant zone, then save the image.
In the Forum upload dialog, I select this image from the directory tree.
I use the windows snipping tool to take the screen shots
For inserting you may use the camera icon OR the upload button (at bottom of the post you can see "choose file"). But in both case the image should have been saved first on the computer.
In case you're replying top a post and want to upload files/pictures then please use "advanced editor".Click on reply and then click "use advanced editor".

Yes I use Windows Snipping tool and I do save the file. And then I select advanced editor and select choose the file at the bottom of the Reply window. This seems to attach file to the post. That's not my problem, so I guess I am not making myself clear.
My question is how do I insert the image into the post itself, just as you have done in your email which I am replying to?.
The attached screenshot image is what displays when I select the camera icon (circled) or I RMB with the cursor over the text and select Insert Image. The black Insert Image window does not respond to mouse clicks, left or right buttons. If I select anywhere outside of the black window, the window disappears.
I don't know what is the problem, but certainly I don't get anything like your video. And I am using Chrome.
Perhaps it is because I am on a student license and am not a paying SW Forum user. Consequently some of the SW Forum services are not available to me.
Anyway thanks for the video and information.
PS. I have read your post re using the Forum and I wish that all posters followed it.
I don't think that SW forums services you're refering to are related to subscription. Please clear your cookies and try again.
Just for your information, there are some section (like API section examples) are restricted to subscription only customers.
I have found the problem. II had to update Java.
After I updated Java, Insert Image works correctly.
Now I have to investigate why the Java auto update had been turned off.
Thanks for your assistance.
Bevin thanks for sharing.
I am glad that your problem is solved.
I sometimes fix a problem without realising which of many mouse clicks did the trick.
Yes when I tried to insert an image in this reply, I had the original problem of a non-responsive black window, but with more experimenting, I found the following (with the black window active):
RMB anywhere within either the black screen or the Forum windows would produce a menu, the bottom of "Inspect element". Selecting that would present:
Anyway, as the above widow displays, the black screen, even though dimmed, is updated as below and thus I am able to proceed to insert Snipping tool .jpg images as I have
So as you say, I must have shotgunned the keystrokes and lucked on the correct combination to achieve the insert, and it happened after I updated Java.
If you have any advice as to what may be the problem then please let me know. In the meantime, I can insert images, but a little awkwardly.
I have heard criticism of Wikipedia but this is the first time I have seen hard evidence of error. That part of Wikipedia was written by a geek who has no concept of how ordinary people see the world.
I will try inserting an image (in line) just in case the forum has changed lately.
I don't understand why my dialog is slightly different to yours when we are using the same forum. You see an edit button where I see an edit box.
We are definitely using different browsers, so perhaps the forum html code behaves differently in different browsers.
Deepak is using Chrome and his video above shows the same screen layout as mine so that explains the different button/box. But he doesn't suffer the black window.
If I find the cause I will let you know.
