Hi,
I have following file structure
Assy1
|->Part1
|->Part2
|->Part3
|->Sub-Assy1
|->sPart1
|->sPart2
Now I want to edit sPart2. When I check-out sPart2 from vault, it checks out only sPart2 and corresponding drawing (if has one). After editing this file and check back in, it will have next revision level.So i would expect revision level update in Assy1 and Sub-Assy1 too. so will they have next revision level even though they hadn't been checked out?
Kind of confusion. But hopefully someone will understand what I mean.
(Actually I want to check out all "where used" files when I check out a file and same thing when check in a file.)
Thank you,
Reeshi
Reeshi,
Most companies don't work that way, because it is quite likely to result in the top level assemblies going through a great number of revisions.
As far as I know, you would have to check out the sub-assembly and assembly drawings above a part by hand. When you check in an assembly drawing it will normally check in the sub-assembly and parts that have been modified, but I think you still have to check in the drawings by hand. I normally check in the part drawings first, then the sub-assembly drawings, then the assembly drawing, because I have less items to check. Doing it all at once, I tend to miss things.
