I know there is a way to change sketch dimensions without actually entering the sketch.  I believe you can simply select the sketch from the featrue tree, the related dimensions will appear, you can edit them and the model will automatically rebuild with the new dimensions.  No need to enter the sketch

Everyone I have talked to has this turned on by default so they don't know how to turn it on or off.
