Only first letter of revision to drawing

Is it possible to have only first letter of revision shown in drawing? As now it is for example A-01, where the -01 is the secondary revision. As the second revision is "working" revision it will change a lot. And when the part is finished and sent to production/sub contractor we give it a primary revision. So it is only confusing to have secondary revision in the drawing.

And second question about secondary revisions. Are the revision files actually saved into vault three times if I have revisions A-01, A-02 and A-03 made? And more if I do more secondary revisions? If this is the case, is it possible to clean unnecessary files (revisions) afterwards?

in the revision scheme tab, select, last revision type optional

yes you can delete revisions.

  It gives this question when I try to disable it. I think that will do much more than just remove the -03 from the drawing. I still want to keep the "design revisions" as they are, but I dont want them to show up in the drawing. This is is what is says:
  
  And here is the title from drawing. I think it just confuses the sub contractors if theres whole revision shown up.
  
  How and where do I delete these revisions I dont need?

    The only thing it will do is force you to manually pick a revision when an existing document is checked in. This will only happen for documents that have the secondary revision. Documents with primary revision only will not be affected.
    
    This will only occur once, as each existing document is revised and checked in. After that the automation returns (next logical revision).
    
    New documents won't be affected.
    
    To delete you must enable the feature.

      Thanks for the answers, looks like Im starting to understand this I previously worked with SolidPDM system, which worked quite differently.

      1. Is there a way to make this "Documents chlidren..." to enabled as default?
      
      2. Is there way to always close the part/assembly from Solidworks automatically when it is Checked into vault? Not just making them read only as it does now.
      
      3. Is there a way to delete older revisions? Not just rollback to previous ones?

        I agree with Kenneth except possibly #2.
        
        I think if you check the file in by selecting the project you want to add it to and using "check in active doument" then "delete local copy", it does close my file.

    I have the same issure with pri. and sec. revisions. and ended up to write a macro to break it up to 2 diff. rev. ( A and 01) and saved in the custom properties for the title block and rev. block
    So keep the same set up as you have now in Vault and break the rev. into 2 parts for the drawing

Yes, it's saved 3 times - to clean it up, just archive the old rev
