What video card and driver are you using? Has the driver been updated for SW2014?
Are you using a Windows Aero theme in Windows 7? If not try toggling one on?
Run SolidWorks Rx and see what it reports.
also if you start solidworks RX and choose the option to start with the solidworks settings reset, does it make any difference.
it seems like you might have aero off or some kind of font scaling installed
it may also be a carry over from an old version. did you do a clean uninstall/reinstall?
Video card is a Quadro FX 3800. Just updated to 320.78 drivers. Same behavior so far.
Aero was off for compatibility with an ooooooooooooooooold version of Matlab required for dll compatibility with a antique dynamic motion package. Interestingly turning Aero on brought the green question mark back to the tray of an installed 2013 version, but not 2104.
Solidworks RX seems mostly happy, just a few warning about a backup directory and toolbox location on the local disk.
This isn't a clean install, I currently have 2013 SP2.0 installed for interoperability with some behind-the-times clients and our out of date PDM vault. Wiping everything out and reinstalling 2014 alone isn't an option.
Driver update didn't prompt for a reboot, but went ahead with one anyway.... And now both versions are happy!
I changed too many things at once without a reboot in between to know for sure if it was the driver update or the switch to Aero that did it, but the unkillable box is now banished!
Sounds like aero. The rx option I described was to check if your settings were the cause.
