I have a very big assembly with a lot mates (solved as flexible), so without hiding some parts, SW interface is completely stuck.
After I set realtime priority for the SLDWORKS.exe process I can unhide additional 10-15% components without lost Solid interface response.
If it works for you without your system becoming unstable then change the setting. It is just setting what priority SolidWorks gets on the cpu. Everything else will be pushed lower in the cpu clock cycle priority.
You can tweak your shortcut to launch the program for a specific affintity and priority.
