When editing a part within an assembly, the rest of the assembly does not go transparent. The “Assembly transparency for in context edit” is grayed out when this file is open so I cannot change anything there from the drop down. I’ve tried it on other machines and everything goes transparent as it should. I have opened other assemblies and even sub-assemblies from this assembly in the problem machine and everything works as it should. If it was something in the installation on this machine, I would think that it would affect all assemblies not just one. It seems to be something between this machine and one file.
Anyone have any idea of what the problem might be? I’ve done a search on the forum and in general and have not found anything that has helped.
Thanks

This seems to have corrected itself some way. I have no idea of how or why. I did shut down SolidWorks to run the RX tool with it running an not running. I also manually turned a couple of parts transparent. I have not changed a thing but now the transparency works as it should when I edit a part inside the assembly. This problem appeared yesterday and the computer was shut down over night so shutting SolidWorks down today should have have had no effect. Searched and worked on this for several hours but still loss for why it happened.
I do thank all of you for trying to help. Until this happens again i have no way to duplicate what happened or how it might be fixed.
Will be moving to SW2014 in a couple of weeks so maybe it will never show up again.
Again, thanks for your help.
Ken
EDIT:
Some more information on this issue.
I have found that if I load the file as a resolved file then the everything works as it should. The assembly goes transparnent expect for the part being edited. I had the large assembly option set at 500 componets (I think that it was defaulted to there) and my assembly had 1197 components so it was loading in light mode. I tried changing from light mode to resolved in the tree but that does not solve the assembly transparent issue. I reset the large assembly component count to 5000 and it defaults to resolved mode and everything works as should. Have not tried it but I'm sure if I load an assembly that has over 5000 parts then the assembly transparency thing would apear again.
Hope this help others.
