How do you import a solid works file into moldflow adviser 2013
don't know much about moldflow, does it run in autodesk tools directly? does it run in solidworks?
many of those standalone programs require that you export a neutral file from solidworks (Step, igs, stl, parasolid) and use them for import because they don't open solidworks files directly. or sometimes they don't open assemblies and you have to save as part first.
I think Moldflow does not like files created with the solidworks extention and you are right it needs to be in (step, igs ,stl) i will try to convert the file then see if moldflow advisor 2013 will run it. Thanks
You never stated what version of SolidWorks you are running.
Autodesk products read one version back from SolidWorks (2013 reads 2012).
I am running Solidworks 2013 Educational Version at University of Akron . Need to know what form the solidworks extension has to be to move the file into moldflow advisor 2013 student version to run a simulation. Right now the solidworks file i tried to use has an extension of .sldpt and it won't work in moldflow.
As I already stated - Autodesk products come out before SolidWorks, so SolidWorks 2013 file (*.sldprt) cannot be read by an Autodesk 2013 product. (must be one release earlier of SolidWorks)
In SolidWorks do a Save Copy as *.STEP.
