I'm looking for a laptop for light student work, which will be hooked up to a larger monitor at home when needed. The smaller and lighter the better. So who has experience with a 13.3", 14" or 15" with Solidworks? Are any of these too small?
Hi Mr Murren,
Having worked with cad when 14" was the bigest size, I would go with the 15".
Any smaller & there is not a lot of graphic area to work in.
I definitely wouldn't go smaller than 15". Beyond screen size, you have to make sure that the laptop will actually run SolidWorks. You can find the requirements here.
I'd have thought resolution was more important than screen size. I'd much rather use SW on a 1920x1080 14" screen than 1280x800 15" screen.
