I have a rolled part that has cutouts after being rolled. I need to flatten it, but I can't figure out out to flatten it and keep the cutouts to follow correctly. See attached file. Please review and let me know how to do this.
use the fold/unfold feature
I've already tried that. If I select either a side surface or edge as fixed, the cuts don't follow the unfolde correctly. I need to figure out how to unfold and select the apex of the outside radius as the fixed edge, but that's not an edge so there's nothing to select. I tried using a split line at this location, but SW doesn't allow me to select it as a fixed edge. You really need to look at the model I attached to see what I'm talking about.
you'll never get the apex on a rolled part.
flat is flat, whether it's from apex or edge.
i mated cut to center but could have easily made it asymmetrical.
i guess i don't see what you're trying to do.
If the cut-outs and edge chamfers are being applied after the part is rolled, why would you want to show them in the flattened state?
That's a valid question. I asked the same question, but the waterjet guy said he wanted it anyway. They have a waterjet with a tilting head that can cut it this way.
