Hello everyone. I work for a metal stamping company and we have some dies that we are trying to remake. To do this, we are reverse engineering the blocks. We are using a CMM machine to collect the hole data but, as some of you may or may not know, there is a lot of data and no easy way to convert it into 2D CAD. I have transferred all the hole data (x coordinates, y coordinates, and hole diameters) into an excel format. My question is if it is possible to use this excel sheet to automatically create a sketch in SolidWorks that contains all these holes with the proper sizes in the proper locations?
Thank you and I appreciate your help, in advance,
Alex
Alexander,
What you're describing sounds like it might be done with fairly simple macro, but I sense that this is a piece to a larger problem.
Are you really trying to solve this at a sketch level? Do you want multiple holes per feature or individual features? How regular are the hole locations and sizes.
We have a tool the might be used for this, or it might be overkill.
Could you describe your overall problem at a higher level?
Regards,
- Tim
