i've done a little research on this issue and i've seen that others have had similar questions, but nothing was quite answered.

basically i am doing dimensions for a "complex" part. many features to dimensions over a small footprint. because of this, a detailed view was created in order to provide more space to clearly dimension the features.

how do add dimensions to the detail view that follow the same ordinate dimension scheme as used in the main view?

NOW one of the workarounds i've read about is to expand the detail view circle to include the baseline for the ordinate, create that 0.00 dimension, and then reduce the detail view circle back to its original size. unfortunately this is not an option on this drawing in that the person who originally created it used an enclosed spline to create the detail view, and not a circle.

AND here is another odd thing i've encountered. i've tried starting an ordinate dimension, using the baseline in the MAIN view as the 0.00 dimension, and then attempted to add the dimensions in the detail view (in other words, spreading the ordinate dimension across multiple views). what's odd about this is that i can click to add the "0" dimension in the main view. then, in the detail view, i click to add a dimension. at first, the dimensions value "136.56" appears. this is CORRECT. however, when i click to place the dimension, it changes to "34.24". i do not know where this dimension value comes from. it is correct when i click the feature to dimension, but then when i click to place the dimension the value changes.

so weird. right now i'm going to look into just overriding these strange values but i am aware that this is NOT an ideal solution. waiting to hear anything back on this. thanks!
