We are currently looking to fill a senior mechanical engineering position. Link to apply is http://azz.com/senior-mechanical-engineer
In a nutshell, we design very specialized equipment to perform difficult welds in hostile environments such as pressure vessels, nuclear power plants, refineries, pulp and paper mills, waste to energy plants, etc. We don't sell the equipment, we sell the repair that the equipment is designed to perform.
We do not design molds, dies, or other such things which are normally considered 'tooling'. We do machinery. Gears, bearings, pulleys, harmonic drives, servos, ball screws, linkages, cams, cameras, hydraulics, pneumatics, and so on.
On a small scale.: welding inside a 1-1/4" ID pipe with video.
On a large scale: welding a 3/4" thick overlay 14 inches long on a 36" OD pipe.
Along with welding, we also design equipment for pre and post weld activities such as surface preparation (grinding/machining) and non-destructive evaluation (ultrasonic/dye penetrant inspection).
I've been here 15 years and I'm not bored yet. No two projects are alike.
As an engineer in our group you will own your projects from start to finish. From conceptual design to detail drawings.
If this sounds like more fun than you can stand, go apply.
