Trying to avoid assembly scrambling...

Imagine mating a channel to the inside of a cylinder.  What I do is mate one edge of the channel to be tangent to the inside cylindrical surface.  I then do the same for the other edge of the channel.  (The channel is running parallel to the axis of the cylinder.)


This works great until solidworks decided to solve these mates by flipping the channel at random times (when I have the assembly open) to the outside of the cylinder which still technically obeys the mates.


Can anyone think of a way to lock the channel so that it is inside the cylinder forever?


I've attached an assembly showing the mates I'm talking about.
