I'm taking over a project from a person that did the design in Creo Elements/Direct Modeling. I can bring in his models as step files and his drawings as dxf but how do I re-associate the models with the drawings? Thanks
You can't. You'll need to recreate the drawing.
Not the answer I was looking for.
same as proe\creo trying to bring in any other cad and do the samething, CANNOT DO IT EITHER, just the nature of CAD
Yep. You can't. Life sucks. Your loan got denied. Your wife's cheatin' on ya. The dog did his business on the carpet again. Just kidding!
It's strange to me how the neutral formats, and I'm looking at you Standard for the Exchange of Product Model Data, didn't spend some time on this translation issue. Because 2d drawings are very often still considered the "master" data. And it's essentially stuck inside of each proprietary modeling software.
Sure, you can export them out as .DXF and you can read them, but the lack of associativity to the 3D models is a major PITA.
Retrieving data ...
