I'm trying to calculate torque for opening typical Ball Valve. I have tried to do that using SolidWorks Motion Simulation. But, nature of graph is not valid, (i.e. Torque at start is lower and end i larger) So, can anyone help me to achieve accurate results / graph? Can this be achieved using Flow Simulation???
in motion how did you setup your analysis? if you have a force on something and you rotate it with a motor, your output is the torque required to turn the part with the motor if you read from the motor. this should work fine but will be sensitive to redundancies in your model.
flow simulation can do this but not through the whole motion. you would look at different positions to understand the torque required to hold it in place or that is acting on it based on the flow. in motion you'd have to assume the force of the fluid on the part. this could be estimated based on forward facing area...etc.

I'm trying flow simulation method, but as pressure is high (4075 psig), flow tends to choke.
Also, in motion simulation if I want to consider fluid pressure on 'ball', how can that be done / how to put this condition...?? I have tried giving equivalent force on bore of valve.
the beauty of the solidworks softwares is that they are what you see is what you get
so the only real options are a force in this case
One more important thing is pressure of fluid inside. How to take this calculation?
