I have a program that writes out relatively simple STEP files (example attached). Unfortunately, SolidWorks hangs when you try to import them.
These files have worked fine with every other program we have tried (Catia, ProE, PointWise, Rhino, OpenCASCADE based programs, IdaSTEP Viewer, etc.), including a formal STEP verification tool.
Of course, SW is the most popular tool with our students, so I would really like to understand this issue. Any help is appreciated.

Opened up in just a few seconds for me, SW 2013. Don't think it should be any different for a student version of SW (assuming you're on student versions).
