Hey guys, hope you can provide some direction.
Our common/shared toolbox has some issues. The first one I’m diving into is with our PEMs. They have had a custom property, Material, added to them with possible values of SST, Alloy STL, 316 SST, 18-8 SST, & Brass. Since the PEMs already have material specified in their Type.
This means we have lots of bad and confusing parts. i.e. Type: Steel with Material: Brass etc.
I’d like to get rid of the material property, but am concerned with what that will do to all of our existing assemblies that use PEMs from the toolbox.
We are using Workgroup PDM (with some legacy data in network folders) with the toolbox set to Create Configurations and we are using SW2013.
Thanks for any help or insight you can provide.
~Dan
We have almost exactly the same problem in SW2015. We had once created some configurations that didn't make sense, such as Buna-N fasteners, because we didn't limit the scope of our material additions.
I'd like to clean it up, like Dan, but mine is more serious because I'm positive that our toolbox has become corrupt. Every time we create a new part and try to insert it, it kicks us out of Solidworks. Sometimes it will allow us to insert it on the second try after it was initially created, but not always.
Please let me know if there is a utility or a process for cleaning up the toolbox and checking it for integrity.
