Hi,
Below is a question posed to me from one of my vault users. It happened to come in when my VAR rep was onsite and his suggestions proved unhelpful in this particular context. Does anyone have any tricks or ideas:
'I have Adobe Acrobat Reader XI and Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional installed.
When Acrobat 8 is the default to open PDFs, double click does not open them in the vault (it does in Windows Explorer.)
When Acrobat Reader is the default, double click does open PDFs in the vault'
While it's a small issue, this user authors/edits a lot of PDF's and I would just like to help him streamline his process.
With Thanks
Alexandra
Alexandra,
That's a fairly difficult question to answer, it has to do with the crazy way Windows handles what application to pick when you double click a file, and how much it's changed over the years. EPDM looks for the most common setup, but it's not the only one so that's why you are seeing something different from outside the vault. Most likely the value in you registry under HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.pdf\(default) is pointing to the keys for Acrobat XI and that's the one you need to change, but I couldn't tell you what to change it to. Here's how mine is setup for FoxIt:
Under HKCR\.pdf
Then Under HKCR\FoxitReader.Document
