    Downloading Solidworks on a Mac

    Katarina Bethel

Hi I am a freshman in university and am trying to download SolidWorks for one of my mechanical engineering classes. I currently have a Mac, but since SolidWorks only runs on Windows I dowloaded Parallels and have succesfully run Windows as a seperate partition. The problem is downloading solidworks itself. The school gives us the download link and code for a 64 bit and 32 solidworks student edition. Since I donwloaded Windows 7 64 bit, I downloaded the 64 bit version. Problem is, the program itself won't install. An error window pops up that says SolidWorks 2013 doesn't run on Windows XP-I thought I was running Windows 7? What do I do to fix this?

You might want to move this question to the Administration forum, since the folks there are particularly focused on installation. Use the Move function in the Actions box at the upper right. You could also just ask the question in that forum, but that leaves you with two threads to track and respond to.

Is it possible that the Installer is running in Compatibility mode?
