    Welds in a simulation

Is there a way to allow for welds when you do a simulation on a weldment?

what do you mean by "allow for"

most commonly we use bonded contact sets to simulate a weld to simplfy the analysis, we look at the forces/stresses in that area to understand how it will affect the weld.

if we really need to, you can model a weld in the analysis to improve the way the system behaves. but remember, it doesn't take into account things like the penetration of a weld, different materials..etc. so including it comes with other assumptions
