Can you change the indented bill format?

I have a top-level assembly with 2 other large sub-assemblies. I need the bill of materials to be indented. I can see I have 3 options of formating.

I can have no numbers, flat numbers, or detailed numbers. I like the detailed numbers and need to use this format for clarity, however my department

doesn't like the "2.1, 2.2, 2.3.1." indented format. They are looking for more like "2a, 2b, 2c." Can this be changed? I know I can override it, but I would

like to keep everything parametric.
