In Workgroup can you start a revision scheme with a "-"? We currently start with "A" but there is talk of going to "-", is that possible or that a reserved charter?
Thanks in advance for help...
The help screen for Workgroup does not show "-" as a restricted character but it does specify that it can be used as a separator in primary/secondary/tertiary rev sequences. I am betting that it would not be allowed because of that.
See that's what I would have thought, because it sounds logical, but apparently you can use a "-" as a revision. I just finally got around to testing it and it worked.
I just wanted to know if anybody had any insight or problems using the "-". It jsut seems like it shouldn't work.
Ok - thanks for the info! That's what makes this forum so good!
We use a lifecycle driven revision method and start off with '-' for development and '~' for production before going through '-A,A,-B,B or ~1,1,~2,2' and so on. This enables us to have saved versions of checked and approved files during the product lifecylce. Its useful to have an intermediate for us as we check and approve electronically adn occasionally a changes are made repeatedly at the request of approvers.
