I can't give you a direct answer on the Kesington Track Ball as I haven't used. But from my experience I don't see a reason why it wouldn't.
I can however recommend an alternative and that is the Logitech M570
I have used it and it's predicessor for 6 or 7 years and cannot contemplate ever going back to use a mouse!
There are a lot of mixed reviews on the Logitech M570. It looks like people either love it or hate it.
I would agree with that.
I see people having no idea when they try to use my computer. I guess I'm one that found it simple to pick up. 10-15min and I've never looked back.
The ability to either depress or use the scroll wheel all while rotating the ball with two finger control, (to zoom, rotate the model) is the fastest of any mouse combination. So much so that I don't even use my 3D Connexion SpaceNavigator anymore.
If there is a criticism of the M570 I would say at time it lacks some exact precision of the cursor/ pointer. At times you might have to allow a 0.25/0.5mm to select a line or point
