almost every part in my assemblies have this symbol prefix even after completely constaining the parts. whats the point?
If ctrl-q did not eliminate the prefix after mating, the part's spacial definition and rotational orientation have not been fully defined within the assembly. The simplest thing to do to investigate a part's freedom of movement within an assembly is to click (and hold) on the part within the graphics area and try to move it, if the part moves, it is not fully defined. One thing to note, if your parts are of cylindrical geometry, ensure that these parts are not free to rotate about their axes, this will also result in a prefix.
Have you done a Ctrl+ Q rebuild? Also, if you're mating each part to another part, is one of the parts fixed (will have (f) in front of the part name in the tree)?
ctl q didnt do anything, each part is mated to the part it goes on, the only one fixed is the first part. i was told to right click on a part, click the staple and add another part. that does the trick, i just dont know why this has to be done with parts that are allready constained.

ok so if i have a bolt constained with a concentric and a coincident it can still rotate so i need to add one more to stop that.
Yes, in SW2013 and earlier you would need to do that if you want to get that last DOF locked down. Here where I work we do not worry about the last rotational constraint unless it is needed for function.
In SW2014 there is a new toggle that will lock that rotation.
