I am a former pro/e user that is now using SW2013. I use SW for some low complexity architectural drawings so I use several display states in order to create my drawings. I try to get my model as complete as possible before I create display states because it can be a lot of work to go through each state to hide objects that have been added afterwards. In pro/e you could set the state to include only certain parts, so any extra added parts would not be inculded. Is there a way to do this in SW?

Unfortunately, at this time, you can do what you asked by using configurations. I believe this option existed for Display States back in 2009 and for some reasons has been removed.

I went to go vote for that SPR in the Enhancement Requests area, but I can't find it. This goes back to my previous post on what is the correct way(s) to "Vote" for SPR - SW confirm?

Colleen,

You don't have the option in Display States (where it should be like Alin's post points out). If you go to your configuration properties window you have the option there to "Hide new components".

The problem(s) can come in when you have more than one configuration AND your display states are linked to configurations. If you don't have them linked, you have the flexability to select and specify show/hide per display state. Do this by selecting the component(s) and Edit > Hide or Show > Specified Display States...

This way you can mass show and hide components per display state.

FYI: I just tried doing this and there is a bug SPR 690898: Cannot select more than 2 display states when using Ctrl-Click select in Specify Display States option in Appearance property manager.
