Dear SOLIDWORKS Sheet Metal Users,
I am writing a request to guide to get correct method and flat length.
Inputs:
Inner dia + Mean dia * Pi
Pi = 22/7
k factor = 0.5
Inner dia = 1500mm
thickness = 8mm
Height = 1000mm
Methods we followed:
1) By solid using revolve option 359 deg, we are getting flat length as 4724.36mm
2) By sheet metal base flange option, we are getting flat length as 4737.02mm
Herewith i have attached the related models.
Whereas actual flat length result as :
inner dia + mean dia * pi
1500 + 8 * 3.142857142857143 = 4739.428571428571 mm
kindly guide me.
Your problem maybe that p != 22/7 --> p= 3.14159265358, so your calculated values will be off by approximately 0.04%
2) p(d + t) = 3.14159265358(1500 + 8) = 4737.52172
1) p(d + t) * 359 / 360 = 3.14159265358(1500 + 8) * 359/360 = 4724.36194
These numbers match the values you observe from the sheet metal base flange and solid revolve options.
