In all the weld cutlists I create the material is always AISI 1020. You cannot overwrite as it always changes back.
How do you change it for different parts in a weldment? Some parts may be 6mm M/S plate or something else.
Expand the cut list in part. Now right click on the member, select material and set the material as required.
You can also use the "solid bodies" filter and right click the body you need to change. I like to do it this way because I can do multiple bodies at the same time
I am having a hard time with this. The material section is not coming up and so I can't modify the default material.
Welcome to the forum. First, right-click on "Cut-list" in your tree and choose "Update" from the drop-down. Then, when you're sure you've expanded the folder all the way to the actual body as shown in my screenshot, right-click on it. If you still don't have "Material" in the drop-down, then click on the little double arrows at the bottom of the box (red box in the screenshot). That will show all the available options. If it's there now, click on "Customize Menu" and select the box for Material. Then it will show up right away next time.
If you still can't get it, please post your part file here (click on "Use advanced editor" at top right to post files). If that does work, let us know that too please.
Thanks for your help!
I had the last feature suppressed (The unfold for the sheet metal) and it wouldn't update the cut list and let me select the material. Moral of the story, less suppression.
I'm glad you got it to work. By the way, since you're a new forum member, here is a discussion with a lot of information to help you get the most out of it if you'd like to take a look: https://forum.solidworks.com/thread/39793.
