I have created a Detail View of a Drawing View and want to delete the original Drawing View, but when I do, both Views are deleted. Is there a way to have only the Detail View?
Just hide the main view, this will keep the detail view.
Move your main view off the sheet.
I do the same. just move it off the sheet
I have used both methods - moving it seems to be the handiest.
If you right click on the main view or dependent view in the tree (example "Drawing View6") about the sixth item down is "hide". select this and it should ask "do you want to hide the dependent view also" select "No" and the main view will hide. If you want the main view back just right click on the main view (shown grayed out) in the tree and select show and that view will reappear. I think it is magic but not sure. Tom
If you have SW13, you could convert the detail view to a sketch, which would then allow deletion of the parent view. However, the detail view would no longer have associativity with the parent view.
You could also enlarge the scale and crop the parent view instead of having a detail view.
Copy the detail view and then delete the original sources.
Once again I feel that I need to reply in the words of that famous TV philosopher, Homer.
How are you copying the detail view?
