Sounds like a CATIA export issue. (Just guessing, sounds like typical CATIA cruddy output.) Anyhoo, it the problem is probably in the export end, not the SW import end.
- Import your model to SW.
- Create a new coordinate system that matches your desired coordinates.
- Export the model (Parasolid is best) with the options in the Save As dialog set to use your new coordinate system.
- Reimport to SW.
as Roland said.... SW just doesn't bring in the file and skew it, the numbers are from the original system that created the step file.
bet if you opened it in any other system the samething would happen.
What I have done in the past when parts aren't aligned to the origin the way I would like them to be is to use the Move/Copy Body feature to get it where I want it and then export it to a new file to eliminate that feature.
