Yesterday I tried to switch from SW2012 to SW2013
Doing the installation with de disc from SW, everything seem to be normal.
And after the installation i tried to open the SW2013, and There was a problem with the lincese
so I called my VAR today, but they told me that we don't have a subscription (that is true).
So the license I had for SW2013 expired and I can no longer install it.
So is this correct?,
Someone in here without the subscription install SW2013 without problems?
When did your support expire? Among other things, support subscription entitles you to receive all SPs and version upgrades. If SW13 was released before your support expired, you should be allowed to install it.
How did you obtain the SW13 installtion disc?
the SW13 installation disc was given to us by our VAR, in January of this year.
And I think that we never had the subscription service, (not sure)
If you had been using SW2012 and did not have subscription, it does not surprise me that you would not be able to activate 2013. The fact that it is a newer release would mean you would have had to either buy 2013 or be on subscription to get the new version.
The problem here is that we buy sw2013 in January, with that we got a Disc to install it.
Didnt install it then because we had a heavy load of projetcs.
If you bought SW13 in January of 2013 (with or without subscription support) you most definitely should be allowed to install it now ... providing you have not already installed SW12 on two computers, and are trying to install it on a third computer without first deactivating at least one of the SW12 licences.
We have on four computers SW12, so you're telling me that before a install SW13 in any of those machines, i should deative on license before?
And how can I do that?
If it is a stand-alone license it can only be activated on 2 computers at a time and can only be used on one of those at any given time. I'm surprised that you were able to install it on more than 2 at a time.
At any rate, if you go to the help at the upper right and use the pull-down menu you should see a tab called "transfer licenses". That should be where you would "deactivate" the others before using the new one. Just above that tab is the "activate licenses" tab.
We have 3 Std, 1 Pro, 1 Pre. And we have our server. That is how we can all open SW12 .
I open the pulldown menu, and i can't see that tab, or do you mean the solidnetwork license manager?
If you have 5 purchased licences (with or without subscription) installed on 5 separate machines, AND you purchased 5 SW13 licenses this year, AND you are upgrading the same 5 machines, there is no need to de-activate any licences before installing SW13.
A purchased licence is valid indefinitely. It does not expire. Only the support subscription expires. Multiple versions of SW can be installed & used concurrently providing they are installed on the same computer.
Kelvin is correct. Check if that serial number has not been already activated on another machine. If it has, de-activate it.
That being said, call you VAR again and ask for an activation status report for that serial number. They should be able to tell you on which machine SW is currently active.
So just upgrade the SNL and re-activate it.

Your license does not expire, regardless of whether or not you are on subscription. If your subscription was valid when 2013 was released, then you are entitled to use it. If, however, your subscription expired before 2013 was released, then your license does not entitle you to use 2013, so it will not work.
