I am trying to mate an open spring to two disks. Right now the spring is perpendicular to the disks. How do I get it inline with the disks and concentric around a post?
Can you post some screen shots? Post your spring as well. Use the Advanced Editor link in the upper right of the dialog box.
We need to see if you have some flats on the spring or an axis to help. How is your spring built in relation to the main planes.
Can you mate planes to faces, use the centerline axis, use the sketches from your helix for the spring?
Since we have no idea how you modeled the spring and what features might be available to use it will be hard to offer a more detailed answer.
Thank you for the response. I have attached a pdf of the attempted assembly. Sounds like I need to have a centerline for aligning to the proper axis.
Post your assembly and part files. Zip them into an archive before posting. It will save us from having to re-create your work. We will also be able to see your feature tree and give you help based on what you modeled.
here are three part files with an assembly file.
I added an axis and two sketches to your spring. Mated the axis concentric to your spacer. Then mated sketch points to faces.
Thank you for the help. Much appreciated.
