    Principal stress vector direction

    Dario Da Silva

Having a strange problem. When building a model with Y-axis as vertical up, the 3rd principal vector stress directions are all inversed (basically turned on themselves 180 degrees). The magnitudes and thus all the remaining stress contour plots are identical to a model built with Z-axis up, but only in the Z-axis model are the vector stress directions correct.

Using Solidworks 2009 SP 3.0. Was this possibly a bug that was corrected?
