What to install for an older Visual Basic application?

I have an ancient VB application  that I suspect has become sort of my tar baby...

I'm a hard code s/w developer, but I know nothing about Solidworks, so the question is very basic.

In trying to build the application using Visual Basic 6.0 (I have newer versions, but I don't want to complicate matters yet), VB reports that "SldWorks 2001plus Type Library" is missing.

To obtain this library, must I have an active solid works license on my development machine?

Is there a application installation file subset that I can install rather than the complete SolidWorks product?
