Odd plane alignment of in-context part

I did something wrong, but I don't know what. I made a part in-context to an assembly, and when I was done I noticed none of the planes were aligned to the main part I was using for reference, or the main planes. I went to make another test part today to see what I did wrong, but that part's planes match up with the main planes. I also noticed I don't have a mates section for the first part either, but my new test part had the in-proccess mate like usual. I can deal with the strange planes for what I'm doing here, but I was wondering why it happened? Here's a picture:
