Can't save my own part because it has the same name as a part in PDM!

I'm designing parts on a project that is being managed with Subversion. I've created a part with the same name as a part in a totally different project that's being managed in Workgroup PDM. Now I'm getting the message that I can't modify my own part because somebody else owns it - even though this part has never been near the PDM vault! Every time I want to modify this part, I have to do a Save As, with all the attendant warnings and extra steps.

How do I get the message to Solidworks and PDM Works that this is not the same part that PDM has control over? This is nuts!

Please don't tell me simply to change the name of my part. Even if this project were being managed with PDM, the system should be able to cope with parts in different projects having the same name.

This is a very annoying bug.
