This is the question I get when i try to edit a cell in a BOM. What is the correct answer?
If I click yes am I keeping or breaking the link?
If i click no am I keeping or breaking the link?
Welcome to the forum. I agree that the question is confusing, but clicking on Yes will keep the link. For example, if your part's configuration properties are set to use the file name for the part number in a BOM, and you double-click in the cell and type in new information, then the information in the configuration properties will change to the new name (User Specified Name instead of Document Name) if you had clicked Yes. If you click No, then changes in the BOM in the drawing won't be reflected in the part file.
Thank you for the welcome Glenn. I tried it after i posted and you are correct, just not sure why they changed the wording the way it was was much clearer. And thanks for the link Andy, i searched but couldn't find anything.
I'm glad I could help. And since you're a new forum member, here's a discussion with a lot of information to help you get the most out of it if you'd like to take a look: https://forum.solidworks.com/thread/39793.
I reported that one to my VAR a few weeks ago. It looks like they addressed the verbiage of the dialog box in SP4.0
