YSWUG Meeting Notice and Recent News

Question asked by Chris Scarlett on Jun 6, 2013

SPRING MEETING: We had a fun meeting a few weeks ago with about 18 people in attendance including a few of CWU's students to hear Elliot Weber's discussion titled  "All in One Design"  "Multi-body Part Designs using Sheet Metal and Weldment tools in SolidWorks”.  He also demonstrated  the new “SoldWorks Electrical”.  Images, a video link and Elliot's model can be found at the following page link: YSWUG Spring Meeting.

JOB OPENINGS: Amtech in Wapato is looking for an experienced Drafter/CNC Programmer using SolidWorks.  I have also been approached from a company in northern California about their need for some SolidWorks related designers.  Check the YSWUG website for additional information.

OUR NEXT MEETING: is scheduled for Wednesday, August 7th at 6pm with at the Oxford Suite's in Yakima in their 1st floor meeting room, 6 - 8pm.  We have 2 guest speakers for this meeting; Rich Welch, Vice President of Worldwide Customer Service for SolidWorks and Richard Doyle, User Community Manager, at SolidWorks Corporation.

Mr. Welch comes to us with 25 years of information technology software development, service, and support experience and 8 years at Dassault Systèmes SolidWorks. He is responsible for all of the company’s customer-facing organizations, including license administration, call center, manufacturing, shipping, consulting services, education services, and technical support. He will be giving a presentation on the business side of SolidWorks including the company’s ongoing and new products, enhancements and services.  This should be very informative; an extensive Q&A session is encouraged.

Mr. Doyle will be presenting his ever popular “‘A Bunch of Stuff’ – SolidWorks Tips and Tricks”.  This presentation is popular whenever and wherever he presents it.  Mr. Doyle is the man in charge for keeping our Users Groups functioning and fun.

At the end of the meeting we will be having our new “SolidWorks Clinic”. Come to the meeting with some sort of SolidWorks related issue, problem file or question with the intent of getting some expert help on it, in an interactive forum.  With both Richards here and the usual YSWUG members you won’t leave the meeting disappointed.

Jeff Abramson had suggested a new dinner choice featuring the gourmet sandwiches from the new Jimmy John’s just down the street on Yakima Avenue.  We will also serve chips and pop.  Please respond to this email if you plan on attending so we can plan for dinner.

This meeting is sponsored by the Rapid Group for "Quick Turn Metal Prototypes - 24 Hour Quotes - 48 Hour Expedites - 1-2 Week Standard Ship - ITAR Registered" - The Rapid Group will be providing raffle prizes for our meeting.

Also we should be getting some more fun prizes from the SolidWorks Users Group Network.

Please visit our group website for additional information.

Enjoy the weather and see you in early August.
