Ok, so let me give you a run down of what exactly Im trying to do here.  Basically,  I am trying to make configurable sub assemblies.   That part is done.  Then i wanted to put 2 sub assemblies together.  the problem is that assembly a has 5 files, and assembly b has 7.  so I have been trying to find a way to make each sub assembly "replaceable" by another identical sub assembly, just made from the different file.. so far its nots going so hot.

lets start with the good file.  as you can see, the sub assembly im trying to replace is selected in blue.

so i select the sub assembly in the feature tree, right click and select replace components

hit the ok button, and get this screen...

ok so no big deal.. i go in, i select the matching plane, and all is good right?? no...  then i see this...

so i go to the part.. try to wiggle a part around and it changes to this...

at least now im getting somewhere...  i figure a mate somewhere has to be backwards...  so i make the changes in the following pictures..  (see next post)
