Are you still running SW2010 per your avatar?
Could be any number of reasons;
Non-approved or mismatched graphics card & driver
Faulty or bad install
Corrupt or damaged Windows user profile
Other process(es) running in the background
... and the list goes on
What version of SolidWorks? What are the specs of your graphics card? Are you using an approved driver?
Solidworks 2013 S.P 3.0 x64
Windows 7 x64
Video Card: ATI V4800
Video drivers: Latest according to SW Rx
No other processes running in the background
The little blue circle that Windows 7 uses to show that it's busy, appears everytime I issue a command in SW.
I just modelled a washer and it paused twice for two seconds a piece - is this normal?
I have uninstalled every trace of SW.
I have uninstalled the video driver.
I have deleted every SW entry from the Registry.
I have used a driver cleaner and registry cleaner.
I have used TFC by Old Timer.
I've rebooted the PC.
I've switched the anti-virus off.
I'm logged in as the local administrator.
I've installed the certified video driver.
I've installed SW2013.
I've installed SP3.0.
Here's hoping this works.
Good Luck Mark. Please let us know if it works.
My actions seemed to have solved the problem.
Note to self: Remove ALL previous versions of SW before installing the Latest version.
