Good morning all,
After turning on and off tangent edges and not getting the effect I want, How can I individually turn on and off edges to make the view the way I want it?
Right-click on the edge and choose the icon near top left.
Yeah I got it Glenn. Thanks for coming back with a reply too. Hey Glenn. When I select hide tangent edges or any of those combinations of that SW gives me, the results are not clear for detailing or what I want. I am having to edge by edge by edge pick and and hide. Is there a way to, like with the power trim, just draw a line over what I do not want? At this rate it will take me a week to clean these views up to get them to a point where I can detail these plastic parts? I have fillets and draft everywhere as you could imagine and consequently those beautiful tangent edges going everywhere.
Any ideas or tips Glenn would be most welcome. After getting my feet wet for a few months on the modeling side I am now venturing into the drawing side. Like the models, they want their drawings yesterday. I just sent my step files out to the molder yesterday and I'll need inspection prints for the parts, all six of them by next week. the way I see it now, I'll still be hiding edges by next week.
Since you said you're already hiding tangent edges, there isn't any really fast way to hide selected edges, but you can Ctrl select multiple edges and then hide them all at once (with the same icon) instead of doing them one at a time. That will help.
Is there a way to change mouse selection? Say intersecting box as opposed to within the box window?
actually, if you DON'T select an edge, but just select the empty space and then select the same icon you have the ability to just select edges one at a time or box select, shift+box, alt+box.
I can't believe I never ran across that before. Thank you.
Really appreciate this tip, I've been doing it piece meal since forever. This changes the whole hidden edge game!
Whats the difference between Shift and Alt box?
Thank you sir.
How do I make my dimension leader have a jog to the left or right? With all the SW options I do not see this at all.
you mean this?: http://help.solidworks.com/2013/English/solidworks/sldworks/t_flipping_the_direction_of_dimension_leaders.htm
Exactly. Thanks again Paul.
How bout the other direction Paul? I am limited in space on my drawing and the present dimension has a leader out to the right. I want the dimension to have no leader jog to the right or to the left. I want the dimension straight under the leader. Any ideas?
Click on the dimension to highlight it, go to the Leader tab on the PropertyManager, and click on the Broken Leader, Aligned Text (far right) icon in the Custom Text Position section (very bottom). That will turn the dimension 90° and place it directly in line with the arrows. Let me know if you need a screenshot.
Got it Glenn. Just some more SW buttons and whistles that are hiding on me. A little different than Pro detailing.
Thanks for your help.
