Hello, I was wondering how many people use SW for structural steel detailing? I am new to SW and having a hard time getting things set up with drawings and bill of materials. I can model just fine. Its when I have to put it to paper is when I have a problem. It just seem like its way to much to work labeling all the parts to get the bill to look right. I am in the USA using feet & inchs which doesn't seem like SW likes very much.
So what are the secrets? Do I need a third party program to really make it work? Any advise or other fourms for SW steel detailing out there that I should look at? Any advise would be helpful. Thanks Michael
Michael,
I use SW for structural steel on most of my projects and I think it works very well.
Can you give a little more information about your current work flow? Are you using the Structural Shape function on the Weldments toolbar? Also, are you modeling multi-body parts or one part file for each body? You mentioned problems with feet & inches. Do you need to show feet and inches for every dimension, such as 0' 8-3/4", or do you just mean that you don't want metric?
