Is this part possible to make into a sheet metal part in solidworks? If so how should I go about doing it?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
It may need some minor dimension tweeks, and maybe round off some corners, but hows this?
Oh sure that's not too bad.
you're going to start with a solid body and convert it to sheet metal
Basically draw and extrude a U-shaped piece. Sketch the miter joints-Use two separate sketches.
Create rip features on the miter sketches. shell the part and use insert bends to convert it to sheet metal.
At that point you can add the rest of the features as edge flanges.
Try it out.
I will give it a try. Do you think there is a way to make it a sheet metal part without converting it to sheet metal?
You can start with the outer U-Shape, and then add then add each of the flanges in as Edge Flanges.
I'm still running 2012. Can you save it as a step file?
Looks great!!! Really wish I could see the steps you did to make it.
Chris, if you take a look at Patrick's screen capture, he shows the feature tree. That should give you a pretty good ide of how he built it.
