Hi everyone! I can't attach the file, it is too big. But, can you pleaes tell me:
What can be the reason I can not hole a surface???
i try and try and... nothing.
Thank you all so much
I don't understand what you mean by "hole" a surface. Are you trying to make a hole in a surface? If that is the case, the solid geometry cuts to do not work on surfaces. Try sketching the hole on your surface, then using the "Trim" command to remove the hole.
You got me well. But, i couldn't make it even with your tip : (
Can you take a screenshot and post that?
Funny; I finally got to do that. But, it earased the part I want to save instead of the one I want to take off
In the Trim command, there is an option to "Keep selections" or "Remove selections". Make sure you pick the right one.
Here is my e.mail address: email@example.com
Send me an e.mail and I will send you the file
Unfortunately, I can't get it to work either. I even tried just deleting some of the faces, but it wouldn't work either.
Thank you any way!
Patrick, can you post Moriya's part so that I can take a look at it?-assuming that's OK with Moriya.
I would, but it is a 71MB file zipped. The forums have a 50MB limit.
Hi John Burrill!
Please send me an email to firstname.lastname@example.org and i will send you the file right away.
Just tell me how to do it and I will do it myself
Or you can try this
1) Draw a circle, then,Select Insert-curve-Split line, make an edge on the surface
2) Select Insert-face-delete to delete the face of the hole
Hope this help.
Well, It did not work for me.
you can find the file on:
Hi,I think I can't open the file cause I'm using solidworks 2009,or you can try
1)Insert - surface - offset - put 0 value for duplicated the surface that you want to hole with, after that hide this surface.
2)Insert - face - delete - delete the face that you cannot hole with.
Now you show back the hidden surface that you create, sketch hole to trim it,and use Insert - surface - knit to knit back the surface with the others, hopefully this work with you.
Thank you Davif!
Well, you have to see the file to get the problem.
Here http://www.filedropper.com/showdownload.php/middle2_1 you can download the parasolid.
my part has many surfaces in it... This is the problem. And this is why it is less simple than it seems ...
will try after come off work, have a nice day.
Looking for you to do it! Thanks!
I don't know where the hole you want to put it,but I use the way that I suggested before
1) Draw a circle, then,Select Insert-curve-Split line, and select the surface you want to project for, after that you can see an edge appear on that surface.
2) Select Insert-face-delete to delete the surface inside the edge.
Hope this work.
Imagine you want to have an eye hole. the location you choose is too simple.
Idid try your advice and I do see an edge appear on that surface. But, I can't delete it.
this is how it looks like:
Yes,you are right,It's most probably faulty face problem,if you can repair that you might cut the hole. unfortunately I not familiar with that,Really sorry for nothing I can help with.
No! I truly thank you for your willing to help! Truly do!
So, ignore my reply on another post.
Davif is suggesting that you may not be able to trim the surface because it is not good enough. Try checking the part (Evaluate/Check or Tools/Check). If it has errors, you may have to fix some or all of them before SolidWorks will be able to handle the normal functions like Trim.
