I use Solidworks Routings for 3D piping systems design with 2D orthgraphic detailed drawings and automatic BOM generation.
However, most of my time is spent creating parts or additional configurations of existing library parts and adding all the needed properties to the
part so I can get BOM's automatically. Thus, I spend more time seemingly in library development of piping components than I do design sometimes.
Does anyone have any experiences with SMAP3D that you could share as an alternative to using Solidworks Routings? Any good suggestions on 3D Piping
Libraries available or on the best method to populate piping part components or to create standard pipe fittings with different sizes? Configuration Publisher?
Property Tab Builder? How can I speed it all up and most quickly get my pipe spec driven library in good shape?
This is a late reply but I thought I would chime in. I have spent a lot of time creating multiple configurations of every pipe fitting I need. My library is now pretty substantial and suits most of my departments needs. My biggest hurdle was getting the BOM info to show correctly to please shop, vendors and purchasing. Other than that it is just design libraries. in each part for each option. RFWN Flanges, are my largest and I do an assembly of the flanges with hardware already attached to have studs nuts and gaskets show in the BOM. If I found out now that there was an easier way I would probably run away to Nepal or something.
